It was the morning. This was it. Everything in the last two days had led up to this. One final push against the Peacemaker. If the rebels lost this battle, they lost it all.
There had been no attacks during the night, and as such everyone was as well rested as could be expected from sleeping in the forest.
Illika, however, hadn’t slept at all. She just kept on leaning against the same tree.
On the opposite side of the city, Queen Zia Star moved her troops into position. Several Roamers had been drawn to the city during the night, in hopes of stopping the Peacemaker from sending another robot that was so potent for burning down their home. The corpse of the Roamer that had died in the battle against Akilli’s robot was still smoldering, causing a great pain to be visible within the other Roamer’s eyes.
In the camp, Raizor stood at the ready, Illika’s rapier in his hand. “Are you guys ready?” he asked.
“This is what we needed to do from

“The Peacemaker is extremely egotistical, and as such, he’s probably staying in the Mayor’s office,” Raizor explained. The group was situated behind one of the trees that had survived the twins’ pyromaniac adventure. The rest of the fire had died down as the night fell down upon the group, meeting just outside the city. The newly promoted Queen Zia Star had gone back into the forest, preparing the other Felinus for the coming morning. In addition, several Roamers had wandered around the city in the night, staring blankly through the remaining shattered glass into the dark city, its flame finally doused.
“So what’s the plan?” Vida asked.
“We’re getting into the city, and we’re killing the Peacemaker,” Cyclone asserted angrily.
“Yeah, I can’t imagine you taking him on with that wounded arm of yours,” Vida responded.
“Hey, it honestly doesn’t hurt at all anymore,” Cyclone

“Wrecking the forest in a badass machine!”
“Where chaos and fire feel calm and serene!”
“A more beautiful evening has never been seen!”
“Evening? My watch says morning at 8:15.”
“The clock must be stuck. It’s actually getting late.”
“Hey, I’m the one working! Carry your own weight!”
With the broken city of Sun not too far in the distance, the massive mechanical monstrosity moved slowly forwards, emitting a large burst of fire into the forest with each step. The machine was structured similarly to a drone, with three huge feet and two arms, but this thing was over two stories tall, and it had no apparent head. Inside its center, Akilli was piloting the entire contraption, while Illika strolled aside the thing’s legs outside on the ground. The two maintained their insane dialogue through radio headsets each had equipped over their heads.
As the monstrous machine tumbled forwards, it crash

“Run faster!” Fletch shouted, dashing through the passing trees, Cyclone and Vida each running their own path. Behind them, the Ravagers gave vicious pursuit, nimbly evading thick trees at breakneck speeds.
The Ravagers were sleek, dark furred animals; the pointed ears, narrow muzzle, teeth like blades, and sharp green slitted eyes fulfilled the image of a nightmare. They ran on all fours like wolves, although they were much larger and bulkier than their eventual earthly counterparts.
The entire pack consisted of four Ravagers, but even just four was an intimidating force. Every time Fletch attempted to fire an arrow back at their pursuers, the Ravagers would move in such a way that the arrow always found its place in a wayward tree trunk.
“We’ve got to lose them!” Cyclone shouted to his side. He could only catch passing glimpses of Fletch and Vida, as the trees got thicker and thicker, whirring past like bullets. Suddenly, Cyclone turned back to
